Neck has been hung in my back room for 20+ years. Just took it out, and here's what I found.
It's a 1969 1970 or 1971 single string tree Fender Telecaster US Neck.
Head finish is original, possible light overspray when fretboard was refinished.
Refinished fretboard shows up under black light see picture 11. Rear of neck has little to no finish applied. See pictures.
Back Bowed even with truss rod untightened.
Cracked walnut "skunk stripe" neck rear possibly from Truss Rod being over tightened until the dark wood cracked.
Indecipherable green ink neck code that dates the neck to January 1967, which is not possible because Fender did not use green neck codes until 1969. Can't be later than a 1971 because in late 1971 Fender began putting a second string tree on the head.
There is a large "F71" stamped on heel in
Black Ink
. See picture 7.
Is it for Fender 1971? Good chance it is...
but you decide.
