Antique Sterling Silver Gorham Barrel Butter Tub w/ Buttercup Lid dated 1878

Description

Charming Victorian Era Barrel Style Butter tub with Lid and Saucer.
Made by Gorham Manufacturing Co. in 1878, Providence, Rhode Island.
The Butter Tub Lid has an unusal Buttercup decorative finial.
Lid and Saucer have matching Acanthus Leaf motifs.
Very finely hand chased work on both pieces.
The three pieces are in very good antique condition with light wear.
However the interior of the butter tub is a bit more nicked up from implements scooping out the butter.
Hallmarks on bottom of the Tub are unfortunately worn, but the characteristic Gorham Gothic "G" can be made out.
Gorham specific "K" date mark is clear.
The Lid and Saucer may or may not have been originally sold with the Butter Tub.
They do not have discernable hallmarks.
