Up for sale is a SUPER RARE Circa 1930's See India Travel Poster
Artist is
Gerald George Wynne Trevredyn Tait who was a commercial artist in Britain in the 1920's and 1930's
The poster is 39" x 25" but with the frame its 44" x 30"
The bottom left says "Printed in India for the Government of India"
The bottom right says "Bolton Fine Art Offset Litho Bombay 7"
I have researched this for many many hours and all I have been able to find is a few other travel posters done by this artist. They have sold between 00-00 a piece!!!
I picked this up at a local auction and I don't think they had any idea what they had as they don't specialize in this kind of stuff.
The poster is showing a lot of wear and tear for it's age. I have not removed the backing so I can only say what I see on the front. There is major tear on the bottom left corner as well as minor tears and holes throughout. However I don't think this takes away from how beautiful this piece is. You can only see the flaws when you are up close.
A piece like this rarely hits the market. For now I will only offer local pickup as I am afraid to ship. If you would like this item shipped I would recommend looking for a private shipper and if you are able to make a deal with them I will gladly work with you/them to make it happen.
