Reed and Barton "Intaglio" gilded Sterling Silverware (Vermeil) set for 12

Description

Stunning and rare complete Reed and Barton Intaglio service for 12, in original chest from 1905. Please note that the chest key has been lost, and the silk lining shows its age, particularly the top of the chest which might need reupholstering. The set consists of 13 utensils (X 12) and  11 serving pieces, totaling 167 pieces. It is a multi-motif pattern, in which different utensils have a mostly different intaglio floral pattern, while the serving pieces have the same pattern, with exception of the Cold Cuts Fork and Eclair Server (scoop).
Silverware was gilded (Vermeil) by a world renown specialist, in order to match Rosenthal Aida Dynasty dinnerware, of which some pieces can be seen on the last photo,  provided to illustrate the magnificence of both sets. Obviously, the indicated price is for the silverware ONLY, while the complete Dynasty service can be seen under a separate listing ("See other items").
Intaglio has been discontinued many years ago, and it is very likely that no other complete set will be offered any time soon, if ever. Since it was discontinued, the market has been flooded by crude, poorly crafted copies, generally sold as "custom made",  while original pieces are difficult to find, and most of the time consist of one or a couple of utensils, sold as "souvenirs".
